This webinar will explore best practices for ensuring a smooth and effective transition and highlight strategies for fostering confidence and competence in newly graduated nurses. Participants will gain insights into the pivotal role of a structured nurse onboarding process, learning how it bridges gaps in knowledge and experience and significantly enhances critical thinking skills and overall nurse satisfaction. 

Felicia Sadler, MJ, BSN, RN, CPHQ, LSSBB, will highlight critical success factors of a structured onboarding process, utilizing valid and reliable tools to measure outcomes. She will also provide a detailed comparison of the 2006 and 2023 Casey-Fink Graduate Nurse Experience Surveys©, developed by Kathy Casey, PhD, RN, NPD-BC. Additionally, Casey will explore how the Casey-Fink data can be leveraged to support strategic decision-making, ultimately enhancing patient care and fostering a resilient nursing workforce.

    Kathy Casey, PhD, RN, NPD-BC, is certified in Nursing Professional Development. She has designed and coordinated Nurse Residency Programs to support and retain newly graduated nurses as they transition into professional nursing practice. She is an Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado, College of Nursing, and Affiliate Faculty at Colorado Christian University. In March 2023, she received the Marlene Kramer Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association for Nursing Professional Development, Board of Directors. In October 2023, she was inducted into the American Academy of Nursing and selected to join the ANA Research Advisory Council. She received her BSN from Pacific Lutheran University, her MSN from the University of Colorado, College of Nursing, and her PhD in Nursing Education from the University of Northern Colorado, School of Nursing.

    Felicia Sadler is the Partner of Acute Solutions at Relias. She has been a registered nurse for over 35 years and has served in various nursing leadership roles. She is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality, a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt in Healthcare, and has served as an examiner for the Tennessee Center for Performance Excellence. She holds a Master of Jurisprudence in Health Law from Loyola Chicago School of Law and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from South University. Sadler has served as chairperson for the ASHRM (American Society for Healthcare Risk Managers) Education Strategy Committee and ASHRM’s Education Development Task Force. She is an international speaker, having presented at numerous professional conferences. Sadler has published several journal articles, including JNPD, JONA, and Chief Healthcare Executive.
